Statement: 

During this semester I would like to further explore the medium of charcoal. I would like to develop an extended vocabulary in the different ways you can work with charcoal. 

It was very difficult for me to break out of doing reductions after my thesis show. Every time I would attempt to try a drawing using only adductive methods I would always end up laying down a ground in smaller sections and just erasing out anyhow. To solve this issue in the later end of the class I started to do heightend drawings with white charcoal and graphite on neutral colored paper. 

For my independent drawing series I would like to do charcoal reductions with figures, incorporating reflections. General size will be around 18x 24" and drawn on bristol board.
