"Shebeast".

Digital Photograph.

(2013).

An interpretation of John William Waterhouse's "Hylas and the Nymphs." Entrancingly beautiful, the nymphs lured men to the water's edge and drowned them without mercy. The murky water only accentuates luminous beauty, leaving no trace of their kills like the water lilies conceal their roots.

"Never Seen Again"

Digital Photograph

(2013).

Hylas, the beloved of Heracles, left the Argonaut's ship while docked on an island in search of water for his lover. When he reached a deep pool, water nymphs emerged from the depths and begged him to join them. It was never known whether he was drowned for embracing their beauty or refusing their request. Though Heracles searched for so long that his ship left without him, he was never seen again.
