For the final project of the foundation studies design class at the Columbus College of Art and Design, we were assigned the task of creating a dog house.  The class split into four groups, each of them developing their own design which was pitched to Dean Julie Taggart.  She and Christopher Yates, our teacher, deliberated and chose the winning design: a dog house inspired by modern and post-modern architecture.  We then split into groups once again to work on the next phase of the project.  The final few weeks of school were dedicated to completing the research and designs, constructing the dog house, and developing a marketing strategy for promoting the finished house.  The research team spent their time finding a venue to donate the dog house as well as gathering information such as dog breeds and concluding architectural decisions. The marketing team created materials to advertise and promote the project while the design team finalized architectural plans and chose the final construction materials that would be used. All of this came together based upon the hard work of the construction team which actually constructed the final product.

The dog house will be displayed in the quad for CCAD’s student show.  After the show it will be raffled off at Pets without Parents.
