Lydia Dickson, (formerly Lydia Weary) grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She was a little bookworm and spent many days in the local library reading about other cultures, gardening, nature, history, and fairy tales. She researched genealogy alongside her mother and learned of her family's Irish and other areas of heritage.

She took her time deciding what she wanted to do after high school and worked in a bookstore while she thought about it. When she took her first semester of classes she fell in love with photography and became a permanent resident of the darkrooms of Virginia Western Community College.

But her time there was not meant to last. She longed for the big city, concerts and more knowledge. From there she went to Columbus College of Art and Design studying photography. She decided she didn't want to limit herself, so she changed her major to Fine Arts and studied a little bit of everything, with a lot of extra watercolor thrown in, and a dash of study abroad for good measure.

She graduated in May 2010 and from there took masters courses at Hollins University, focusing on studio art and Classics.  She is currently working as a studio artist in Raleigh, North Carolina.  She creates mixed media and watercolor pieces that reflect her travels, interest in history and world cultures, and her fascination with the natural world.
