The Artists

Meghann Snow- An international artist who is originally from Ohio but is currently residing in New York. Recently she received her MFA from Parsons. For the show she will be doing body paintings that are reminsecent to Yves Kleins work, but simultaneously tie her own personal history as inspiration and purpose. Ms. Snow has an extensive background in competitive dancing and was an Olympic bound figure skater early in her life.  This aspect of her past creates meaning within her work and can be seen in not only her outfit but also the reason she turned to performance in the first place.  The performative aspect of dance and motion of the body play into Meghann’s aggressive mark making techniques. The playfulness and eloquence of her dance are countered and complimented by these more abstract expressionistic leanings.

Bobb Hatt- is a physicist who has worked on the construction of particle accelerators. His life and music is a chaotic cacophony of appropriated materials that create an endless accumulation of sound, day-to-day objects, and personal narritives unique to the artist. His aesthetic has a haphazard approach that can be compared to the artists of Laboratory Agit Art.

To wrap up the show Bobb Performed his Saxophone monotet where he eventually stripped naked, freaked out, and attacked the crowd, thus forcing the viewers to defend or be knocked down by objects from his installation. The participatory nature and violent aesthetic leaves the viewer uncertain on how to feel and pushes them outside the normal zones of expectations for a gallery. His music is influenced by contemporary noise artists as well as the futurist manifesto. The sound was loud enough to vibrate the gallery and the insides of your body. What was left after the performance were the even scarcer and more deystroyed objects of his installation.
